Google Play Music will be default music app for Samsung, includes exclusive features

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ from Samsung launch today, and to celebrate the launch, Google and Samsung have a special announcement.

Google is teaming up with Samsung on Google Play Music. Specifically, Play Music will be the default music app on new Samsung-branded smartphones and tablets across the globe. Google has built in a few exclusive features into the Play Music service for Samsung device owners, too.

That includes having the ability to upload 100,000 of your own songs to the service for free. That means Samsung customers have double the storage as Google Play Music users with non-Samsung devices. In addition to that, Google is including a free three-month trial for Play Music for those who buy new Samsung devices.

Finally, Google Play Music will also work with Samsung’s digital personal assistant, Bixby. So when Bixby launches later this spring, customers will be able to simply ask their Galaxy S8 to play their favorite music or playlist and Bixby will launch Play Music by default.

That is quite the series of perks for new Samsung device owners. Is it enough to convince you to pick up a Galaxy S8 if you’ve been on the fence?
