Lenovo’s budget Vibe K5 costs $100 and has a Snapdragon 415 SoC

Lenovo is launching its super budget-friendly Vibe K5 smartphone in India, and it can be yours for the low low price of just Rs. 6,999, which clocks in at around $104 USD. For being such an entry-level device, the Lenovo Vibe K5 has some pretty impressive specs. Those used to flagship devices won’t find anything to whistle at here, but for those new to the smartphone game, this looks like a pretty solid option. It’s essentially just like the Vibe K5 Plus, but with a weaker processor and a lower resolution display.

This device, which was originally unveiled at MWC 2016, sports dual SIM card slots and rocks a 5-inch  HD display with a resolution of 720×1280. Under the hood is a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 414 SoC that is powered by 2 gigs of RAM. The main camera snaps shots with 13 megapixels, and the selfie snapper up front has 5 megapixels. Internal storage is only 16GB, but you can expand it up to 32GB with a microSD card. The battery is a modest 2750 offering, but you should still be able to keep the device ticking all day long thanks to its equally modest specs.

On the connectivity side of things, the Lenovo Vibe K5 has all the standard networking abilities we’ve come to expect: wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc… It supports 3G and 4G and has an FM radio. Sensors include a basic proximity sensor, ambient light detector, and the accelerometer and gyroscope that are expected on modern devices. Bodies come in gold, silver, or gray, and you’ll first be able to buy them on June 22 when Amazon India will be launching a flash sale.

What are your thoughts regarding the Lenovo Vibe K5? Maybe not good material for an Android fan’s daily driver, but as a sidekick device, we think you’re getting quite a bit of bang for your buck.
