The iPhone 8 release date is next week, but iPhone 8 pre-orders are live now at Apple, each carrier and Best Buy. This is how to pre-order the iPhone 8 and Phone 8 Plus if you want to make sure you get one on release day.

Announced earlier this week, the iPhone 8 and Phone 8 Plus pre-orders started last night and the release date arrives on September 22nd. Here are our iPhone 8 pre-order tips.

There is a new glass back, upgraded processor, new camera tech and new storage sizes for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X pre-orders don’t start until late October. Make sure you check to see if you are eligible for the iPhone 8 upgrade, or how much you still owe on your current phone.

The iPhone 8 pre-order are live, and you can place your order now. The iPhone 8 pre-orders started at 12:01 AM Pacific, 3:01 AM Eastern and many models are still available for release day delivery. You can pre-order the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus on your computer, on the Apple Store App and through carrier apps.

All of the major carriers are taking iPhone 8 pre-orders and you may see some iPhone 8 pre-orders at Best Buy as well. You need to decide if you will buy the iPhone 8 at a carrier or at Apple. There are some reasons not to buy the iPhone 8 at an Apple Store.

The Apple Store App is generally the most reliable way to pre-order the iPhone 8 from Apple. This typically works better than using the Apple website. If you are on the Apple iPhone upgrade plan you need to buy your new phone from Apple.

You can use many carrier payment plans at Apple, but not all of them. If you are on T-Mobile or you are using some older payment plan service, you may be better off buying the new iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus directly from your carrier’s website.

Many times at least one carrier website will go live before the others, so pay attention to that if you are trying to decide where to buy from.

Apple and Best Buy both allow you to place an online iPhone 8 pre-order for in store pickup on September 22nd. Apple stores are opening early on this day and you will be able to stop there starting at 8 AM.

If you go this route, you don’t need to line up early at an Apple Store. You will go through the purchase process online and then when September 22nd arrives you just need to go in and pick it up sometime that day or weekend.

Speck Presidio Ultra iPhone 8 Case

Generally when you have to pick an iPhone 8 case you have to choose between style and durability or thickness and protection. Speck already did a great job of delivering just enough protection and a lot of style, and the new Presidio Ultra for iPhone 8 takes this to another level.

This is a multi-part iPhone 8 case that allows you to carry a Speck Slim Presidio case on your phone at all times. This slim case includes a raised bezel a great amount of protection and easy clickable buttons. There is a large opening for charging and lear access to the speakers.

When you need more protection -- like when working out, going outdoors or being more active -- you can snap on the include Impactium Ultra Bumper. This adds another layer of shock protection from drops, added screen protection on the front of your iPhone 8 and also keeps dust and debris out of the charging port.

It's a slim iPhone 8 case all the time and a rugged iPhone 8 case when you need it, without the need for two cases. There's even a holster included to secure it to you or to use as a kickstand.
