The iOS 11.3 release date is getting closer and iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users should start prepping for its arrival.
The company says it plans to release iOS 11.3 sometime this spring with new Animojis, Business Chat for Messages, and new battery features. The company hasn’t provided a firm date, but we could get one in the near future.
Apple typically reserves iOS release date announcements for media events and the company’s scheduled a media event for late March.
iOS 11.3 Release Date
Last year, Apple released the first iOS 10.3 beta in late January ahead of an official release in March. In 2016, Apple released the first iOS 9.3 beta in mid-January ahead of an official release in late March. If the company follows a similar pattern, iOS 11.3 could stay in beta until late March.
Apple is rumored to have new hardware up its sleeve for early 2018 and there’s a chance the iOS 11.3 release, and Apple’s upcoming media event, are linked to those plans.
The company’s announced a March 27th event in Chicago starting at 10AM at Lane Tech College Prep High School. The event is centered around “creative new ideas for teachers and students” which hints at education-related announcements.
This means iOS 11.3’s ClassKit solution could be part of the event so it’s possible we get an iOS 11.3 release shortly before or shortly after the keynote.
According to 9to5Mac, ClassKit will let developers “create student evaluation features, users will be able to answer questionnaires that will be automatically transmitted to teachers remotely via iCloud.”
The current beta, iOS 11.3 beta 6, reportedly isn’t the GM (Gold Master) release which means we could see Apple release one more beta before the final version of the update is released to the public. Apple also released seven iOS 10.3 betas before its release in March last year.
The iOS 11.3 beta might drag on for a few more days, but don’t let that stop you from doing some prep work. This guide will provide you with some tips and tricks that will help you get ready for the highly anticipated iOS 11.3 release date which could land on or around Tuesday, March 27th.
Start Prepping for iOS 11.3 Right Now
The iOS 11.3 release date might be a few days away, but that doesn't mean you should sit on your hands.
If you need to, use this time to cleanup the storage on your device. Go into your device's storage and delete the files (photos, apps, etc) you no longer need. Cleaning up your device could also improve your device's performance.
Make sure you track down all of your login information before the iOS 11.3 update arrives. Have your Apple ID/iCloud login and the login info for your important apps and services ready to go. iOS 11.3 could log you out of some of your apps and services.
If you want to install the iOS 11.3 update right when it comes out, and you don't have access to a power source, you'll need a specific amount of battery life to start the installation process.
Next week, make sure your device has at least a 50% charge (or you're near a charger) around 10AM Pacific Monday-Friday.
This also applies to those of you looking to download new versions of the iOS 11.3 beta right when they come out.
This might seem tedious, but a little prep work will help you avoid major problems before, and after, the iOS 11.3 update's release.
