iOS 11.2 Release Date Tips & Tricks

iOS 11.2 Release Date Tips & Tricks is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple hasn’t confirmed the iOS 11.2 release date yet, but we expect it to land for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch before the end of the year.

The iOS 11.2 probably won’t deliver new emojis, but it’s shaping up to be another solid milestone release for Apple’s stable of mobile devices.

Apple’s iOS 11.2 update is currently in beta and the current version delivers a nice list of changes including Apple Pay Cash, faster wireless charging for the iPhone 8/iPhone 8 Plus/iPhone X, a fix for a calculator issue, and several other notable tweaks.

Most of these features should make it into the final iOS 11.2 release though Apple could hold some back for additional testing if its needed.

Apple’s currently on its third iOS 11.2 beta and we expect the company to release a few more as it adds additional polish ahead of the final release.

The company hasn’t publicly revealed an iOS 11.2 release date. And with no launch event in sight, it probably won’t provide one ahead of time. Apple typically reserves iOS release date announcements for its media events.

That said, we could see the iOS 11.2 update emerge alongside the HomePod speaker in December because iOS 11.2 delivers SiriKit for HomePod. Apple still hasn’t provided an official HomePod release date, but we expect to get one in the near future.

The iOS 11.2 update is making progress which means iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users are starting to shift their attention from iOS 11.1.1 to iOS 11.2.

We’ve getting questions about the iOS 11.2 release date, release time, the download size, and iOS 11.2’s features. We can’t provide you with a specific iOS 11.2 release date, but we can help you prepare for the iOS 11.2 update’s release for your device.

This guide will provide you with some tips and tricks that should help you get ready for the iOS 11.2 release date. The more prepared you are, the better, so make sure you prepare as we push through the month of November.

Start Preparing Right Now

Apple hasn't revealed the iOS 11.2 release date (this early in the testing process it still might be a moving target), but you can still do some prep work as we push toward December.

If you need to, use this time to cleanup the storage on your device. Go into your device's storage and delete the files (photos, apps, etc) you no longer need. Cleaning up your device could also improve your device's performance.

Now would also be a good time to start backing up the data stored on your device(s). If you don't know where to start, you'll want to dig into our guides covering iCloud backups and iTunes backups.

Make sure you track down all of your login information before the iOS 11.2 update arrives. Have your Apple ID/iCloud login and the login info for your important apps and services ready to go. iOS 11.2 could log you out of some of your apps and services.

If you want to download the iOS 11.2 right when its release, make sure your device has at least a 50% charge (or you're near a charger) around 10AM Pacific Monday-Friday.

You might also want to consider downloading the latest version of iOS 11 so that you're up-to-date ahead of iOS 11.2's arrival.

This might seem tedious, but a little prep work will help you avoid major problems before, and after, the iOS 11.2 update's release.
