Edifier S2000 Pro Review: Upgraded Sound For Your Music & Movies
The Edifier S2000 Pro bookshelf speakers seriously upgrade the sound on your desk or in your living room without the need for a sub and lots of wires. The clean, upscale design houses impressive sounding speakers that upgraded my office sound in an unbelievable way. From listening to Spotify to watching YouTube and Netflix, this set of speakers is the ultimate companion to your binge watching and musical needs.
I love the sound quality, the multiple inputs as well as support for Bluetooth and the luxurious look that you get from this pair of powered speakers. I connected my MacBook Pro to the speakers using the supplied 3.5mm to RCA cable and I pair my Echo Dot to the speakers by Bluetooth so I can even use them when I want to voice control my music playback through Spotify.
The Edifier S2000 Pro speakers are $399 and available from Amazon and directly from Edifier. While you may not be familiar with the Edifier brand, they are a premium audio company with a long history.
Edifier S2000 Pro Sound
The Edifier S2000 Pro delivers amazing sound across a wide range of uses. While these may go into a home theater, we used them in a office setting relying on them for music, YouTube, streaming Netflix and as studio monitors while working in Final Cut Pro.
I love the sound that these speakers deliver. You get a very neutral overall sound character that works great for a wide rang of applications and helped when editing videos as well as watching them.
Music sounds crisp with a good amount of punch in the lower end, even without the need for a subwoofer in the office. This nice clean setup also sounds amazing while watching Netflix and Hulu. They will blow your laptop or monitor speakers out of the water, and they put our previous Logitech 2.1 THX system to shame.
I watch a lot of YouTube videos and one of the best things these speakers do is deliver stunning quality when people are talking on camera. From listening to Peter McKinnon to watching the latest YouTube Red special, the speakers are clear, offer very great sound and won’t distort even at higher volumes.
There are four EQ settings you can choose from and there are adjustments on the back to control treble and bass. There is no option to add a subwoofer to the mix by plugging into the speakers, but in this setting the pair delivers just the right amount of bass.
Edifier S2000 Pro Design
The beautiful design lets the Edifier S2000 Pro speakers fit in almost anywhere. The sides fo the speakers are real birch and it is a thick panel that gives the speakers a premium heft and look. You can tell this is not a pressed board speaker or cheaper material. Te rich finish and wood grain fits in with a lot of different environments. They look great on a desk and also on TV stand as part of a home theater.
Removable speaker grilles on the front let you device if you want a blend in style or if you prefer to have the speakers fully exposed for a modern look. I like the gold feet that you can just see a small amount of and that come with anti slip pads to keep the speakers in place.
Edifier S2000 Pro Features & Inputs
I like that there are many ways to connect sources to the S2000 Pro. The right speaker is where the controls are and where the connections are. You can plug in to an Aux port with RCA jacks, Optical, Coax and even XLR inputs. The speakers also support Bluetooth so you can pair a phone or in my case an Echo Dot. Pairing is easy and devices reconnect very easily.
The two speakers connect by an included 16 foot cable that is high quality and very sturdy. It’s nice to have a lot of flexibility in placement due to the length of the cable. All of the included cables for different audio connections felt nice and featured well fitting connectors.
Three knobs on the back of the right speaker allow you to control master volume as well as bass and treble. The included remote can switch sources, EQ modes, control volume and playback of Bluetooth sources. You can also use it to turn the speakers off.
