iFixit has done its regular procedure on the new Huawei P20 Pro, and for the most part, it’s what you expect. It’s a device with glass on both sides using a lot of adhesive making it fairly difficult to repair. It comes apart easily, but the display is glued into the frame. This gave it a score of 4/10 (the same score as the Samsung Galaxy S9).
However, an interesting detail found is in the camera system. Huawei claims that the 8MP telephoto camera has optical image stabilization, but iFixit seems to have found that all three of the device’s cameras have OIS. Why Huawei isn’t bragging about this isn’t yet known.
It may be because the company is advertising its AI capabilities, including smart stabilization. Thankfully, it isn’t all left to software. This is even more reason to pick up the phone that topped DXoMark’s charts!
