A month and a half after announcing its plans to acquire Ring, Amazon today confirmed that its acquisition is complete.

Amazon has officially acquired Ring, maker of smart home products like video doorbells. Amazon and Ring say that they plan to work together to “reduce crime in neighborhoods with affordable, effective home security products and services”.

To celebrate this acquisition and push its effort, Amazon has cut the price of the Ring video doorbell.

The Ring video doorbell is weather resistant and offers wide angle HD video, night vision, and motion-activated alerts. You can designate areas that you want the doorbell to monitor and customize its sensitivity. If the doorbell detects motion, you can get real-time alerts on your smartphone, tablet, or desktop. You can also interact with visitors in real time.

Also of note is that the Ring video doorbell works with Amazon’s Alexa assistant. If you’e got an Echo Show or Fire TV device, you can view activity and listen to audio using Alexa on your Echo Show or Fire TV device.
