These are the best Android phones under $300 available in 2018. Lately, smartphones are getting more and more expensive. If you don’t have $800-$900 to spend on the latest Galaxy S9 or Google Pixel 2, we have you covered. Below we’ve round-up some budget Android phones that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Buyers no longer want to pay top dollar or sign a new 2-year contract. Instead, they’re looking for awesome phones that are far more affordable. Over the past couple of years, manufacturers have focused on delivering exactly that.

If you’re like millions of customers looking for a cheaper route, or simply don’t need to spend top dollar, These are the phones to consider. The phones we recommend deliver nearly the same experience as more expensive devices but at a lower price.

The key to Android’s success is variety. Smartphones are available in all different shapes, sizes, and price. Here in 2018, there are cheap options from ASUS, Google, LG, Motorola, Nokia, OnePlus and other brands you’d never expect.

Be careful though, because cheap Android phones sold through carriers typically offer the bare minimum specs. They’re missing key features or have older and outdated software. Another way to cut costs on a smartphone is the display. Most budget phones have very poor screens or low resolution. Those are the phones you want to avoid, and what we avoid in our roundup.

Our suggestions all cost under $300 but are still good enough to recommend. No, you won’t get a curved display like the Galaxy S9+, but you can come close. Including a pre-owned Galaxy S8 for only $299. And while most phones will have a slightly better camera than what we’re showing you here, these phones are better than you’d expect. Each phone below is wallet-friendly yet still delivers that great experience you’re looking for.

Google Nexus 5X

Google Nexus 5X

Near the end of 2015, Google released the Nexus 5X. It's not brand new but is still an awesome phone that millions enjoy. It already runs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo release, gets fast updates and has all the latest features. Including a fingerprint scanner, quad-core processor, good camera, dual front-facing speakers, and fast charging.

Google last charged $329 for the 16GB model before it went out of stock. Get one from Best Buy, Newegg or eBay. This phone delivers on all the essentials for less than $300. The only downside is the plastic design, rather than a premium metal some would get with a Samsung or iPhone.

It's available for just $219 from the popular site Newegg. And that's with 32GB of storage. If storage isn't a concern, unlocked 16GB models are $259 on eBay. Some had issues with boot loops, but this is still a great phone.

Buy the Nexus 5X on eBay for $206
