Last month Fitbit unveiled the Fitbit Versa and started taking pre-orders, today it is finally shipping and available for purchase worldwide. We’ll have a full review of the Versa soon — we’ve been putting it through its paces for about a week already — but if you just can’t wait, you can pick one up now from Fitbit.com, Amazon, Best Buy and more.
To give you a quick preview of our thoughts on the device, it presents in many ways as a Fitbit Ionic (which we quite liked) that has been put on a diet. While you lose the built-in GPS of the Ionic and in the base model the NFC payment method (bump up to the Versa Special Edition for that), the rest of the core functionality is present in the Versa and in a considerably smaller package that is going to appeal to a much broader range of customers. The body of the Versa comes in three colors (black aluminum, rose gold aluminum, and silver aluminum) and thanks to the easily swappable bands, there is considerably more customization that can be done from there.
The battery life on the Versa has been great so far; it was the evening of my 5th day with the device that it finally flashed the low battery alert, and I waited another 6 hours to place it on the charger to see that it still had 5% remaining. This was with at least an hour of exercise every day and two outdoor runs of between 4-5 miles using the connected GPS.
We’ll cover the rest in the full review later this week, but in the meantime, if you have any questions just let us know and we can answer them here or in the review.Show Press Release
