What you need to know about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta starts on September 10th. The Black Ops 4 Blackout beta start time is 10 AM Pacific, 1 PM Eastern. This comes first to PS4 and it’s a Monday, not a weekend like the previous betas.

The Xbox One Black Ops 4 Blackout beta starts on September 14th. The PC Blackout beta starts the same day for players who pre-order. There is an open PC beta for anyone with a Battle.net account on September 15th.

The Blackout beta end time is Monday September 17th at 10 AM Pacific, 1 PM Eastern.

Activision already sent out Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta tokens and you can download the Black Ops 4 beta.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta Systems

The Black Ops 4 beta is available on PS4, Xbox One and on PC. You need to pre-order to play on Xbox One or PS4, but you can play without pre-ordering on PC.

Here are the Black Ops 4 beta PC requirements, which will continue through for the rest of the beta.

Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta Problems

Plan on experiencing some Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta problems.

Plan on experiencing some Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta problems.

You will likely run into Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta problems during this week of play time. This is a beta, and it is a part of the process. You may run into issues installing the beta update, connection issues and other errors.

Here’s a rundown of the known Black Ops 4 beta problems and what you can do to fix these issues. Keep in mind there will likely be Blackout beta updates pushed almost every morning with fixes and changes.

How Long is the Black Ops 4 Beta

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta will last a week. PS4 players can take advantage of a full week of the Blackout Beta, PC and Xbox One players only get a weekend.

You may see them open up the beta to all gamers on the last day, or extend a day if there are massive issues.

Don’t Delete the Beta On Your Console

Do not delete the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta when the second weekend ends. This is the same beta that you will use to try the Battle Royale mode in September. You will need to install an update to the beta to play Blackout, but it will speed things up and avoid any major issues if you leave the beta on your console or PC after the beta is complete.

How to Join the Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta

You need to pre-order Black Ops 4 to get access to the beta. That is the only way to get guaranteed access during the limited run. When you pre-order on a disk you will get an email or a printed code that you will need to register on Call of Duty. Closer to the Black Ops 4 beta start date you will get a token that you enter into your system for access.

Use this guide to sign up for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta now, so you can avoid major problems when everyone tries to do it later this year.

Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta Progress

During the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta you can level up your character by winning, placing in the top 15 and getting kills. We don’t know about a specific player level cap in Blackout yet, but there is likely a temporary limit in place. This may be raised during the beta.

Any progress you make will not carry over to the final game. This is a beta, and Treyarch uses the data to tune the game for the final release. They don’t want the early beta data and progress to carry over into the final game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta Rewards

While the progress doesn’t carry over, you get a special item in the game if you play the beta.

“Participation Has Its Rewards: All participants in the Beta will receive a unique, one-of-a-kind calling card that they can proudly display. And for every player that achieves max rank in the Beta, they will earn a Permanent Unlock Token to apply to any piece of Create-a-Class content when the game comes out.”

That rank is level 40. So you better get busy if you want to earn that token. It’s not clear if you will get rewards for the Blackout beta, but it wouldn’t be a surprise.

6 Reasons to Pre-Order Black Ops 4 & 4 Reasons To Wait

Pre-Order If You Love The Look of Mutliplayer

We know a lot about the the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer experience from the reveal and E3. There was no tip-toeing around the big questions. We know there is no jet pack or boost jumping. Treyarch made it very clear that this is a grounded multiplayer game, but you can still slide.

In the introduction we learned about changes to weapons, specialists are back with loads of new abilities and you now have to heal your character in the game instead of it automatically happening. The Pick 10 system is back and so are perks, so you can expect a classic Black Ops gaming feel. Everything looked fast and fluid.

With no story mode, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer is a bigger component and if that is what you love about the game it's a good reason to pre-order.
