Essential Phone receives a new Android P Developer Preview build

By | 25th May 2018

Earlier this month, Google officially launched the Developer Preview for its next major upgrade to Android. A little while after that, the Essential Phone got in on the pre-release fun as well.

Now Essential has confirmed that it is rolling out a new version of the Android P Developer Preview, aiming to fix a few kinks. Specifically, this minor upgrade will bring the developer preview to build PPR1.180412.090, and it includes fixes for cellular connectivity and Bluetooth as well as a general fix for dark mode.

This is a minor upgrade in the grand scheme of things, but Essential is ironing out the issues ahead of a public launch later this year. If you are already part of the developer preview program and want to give this new software a shot, just keep an eye out for the over-the-air (OTA) update. If you aren’t part of the preview program and want to be, just click through here.

This is beta software, though, so things might be janky for a long while.
