Spider-Man PS4 is the biggest PlayStation game coming this fall and it lets you put on the Spidey suit and web your way across the city fighting villains. Originally shown off in 2017, we will learn more about Spider-Man on PS4 at E3 2018, where it is sure to dominate on stage.
This is an open-world Spider-Man game with web slinging, combat and way more verticality than you’ll find in most games open world games coming out this year. Here’s everything you need to know about Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 Game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 Release Date
The Spider-Man PS4 release date is is September 7th. We don’t anticipate any delays as this was announced well ahead of E3 without any pressure to commit.
Expect to see more about the game at E3 2018, but you shouldn’t expect any changes to the release date.
Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 Gameplay, Web Slinging & Features
We’re seeing new Spider-Man gameplay footage that shows off the swinging mechanic. This is the best look yet at how you will play and traverse the city. While you are swinging you can change direction, gain momentum and you can even swing downward so that you can get to the ground without waiting to fall. If you swing into a building you will be able to run up it and sling-vault off it to get momentum.
You can interact with citizens in the game, but you cannot hit them or sling them. You can take a selfie, give a high-five or finger guns. When it comes to the bad guys you can use your web and a variety of combat moves to take them out. You can also interact with the environment to take out multiple bad guys at once. There is some scripted combat, but it looks like much of it will be up to you to find the best way to take them out.
We’ll see more in June at E3, which should show off more of the mechanics and highlight additional gameplay in the world.
When to Expect More Spider-Man PS4 News
Expect to see more Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 news and information during the Sony E3 briefing. Sony already confirmed that they are focused on games this year, not a PS5 or other hardware.
The Sony press conference is 6 PM Pacific / 9 PM Eastern on June 11th, which is when you should expect to see more information about the game and likely when you will see new videos and gameplay.
