  • Huawei is reportedly testing Android Pie on four of its high-end smartphones, including the Huawei P20 and Mate 10.
  • The news comes via a Weibo account that apparently belongs to a Huawei official.
  • The Android Pie test is an internal initiative, so don’t expect beta testing or a full-fledged rollout just yet.

Google and Essential have quickly delivered Android Pie to their users, following the update’s release this week. Now, it seems like Huawei is joining the army of brands preparing for the update, testing it on four phones, according to Mydrivers (h/t: GSMArena).

A company official apparently confirmed on Weibo that the manufacturer was test-driving Android Pie on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, Honor 10, and Honor V10. Unfortunately, this is just an internal test, so you still have to wait a while before receiving availability details for your phone.

If news of an internal test is confirmed, it suggests that these are the most likely devices to receive Android Pie from Huawei first. You can also probably count on the manufacturer bringing the update to other recent flagships too — such as the Huawei P20 Pro, Honor Note 10, and Honor Play — if the aforementioned list is anything to go on.

Huawei is obviously trailing Google and Essential in delivering Android Pie to its users, but it also seems to be lagging behind several other third-party brands at the moment.

Companies like HMD Global, Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi have all allowed users to participate in Android P beta testing in the wake of Google I/O, but Huawei has been conspicuously absent. Nevertheless, the race is on now to see who’ll actually deliver the fully baked update.
