Xiaomi still continues to treat users with the latest version of Android for a lot of devices. The newest addition to the Android Pie family is the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. This version of the Mi 8 has the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, 4/6GB of RAM, and a 5.88-inch FHD+ screen. Given that the device is just a couple of months old, it was launched with Android 8.1 Oreo. Now, you can download the first closed Android Pie beta for the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE.
The build which we are happy to share is MIUI 8.11.1 China Developer ROM based on Android Pie. This particular build is a closed beta version of the system, which means that you can’t use MIUI Updater to install the package. Though, you can still use the TWRP recovery. Keep in mind that the China Developer version of the ROM only has Mandarin and English language support, lacks Google Play Services, and may be considered unstable. They’re still a good way to test a new version of Android on the device before it receives stable support. If you can live with the mentioned restrictions, feel free to download the ROM from the link below and flash it via TWRP.
Officially unlocking the bootloader and using the TWRP recovery to flash the ZIP is the best way to test out the system. Also, keep in mind that you don’t have to wipe your device in order to update if you’re on MIUI China Stable, you can just flash it over the existing stock ROM on the device.
