Pre-Black Friday smart home savings: smart camera, robot vacuum, and smart thermostat

By | 3rd November 2018

I still see having a home as the pinnacle of success, but there are always ways to make the experience of living in it that much better. That is where smart home devices come in, with three of them discounted for a limited time on Amazon.

First up is the Remo+ DoorCam, a wireless over-the-door smart security camera that can be placed either in the home or on the front door. Because of the design, the Wi-Fi antenna sits on the inside in order to limit interference with the outside world. You will also find support for a 24/7 motion sensor and infrared night vision.

The camera sensor itself features a 160-degree field of view, so you would have to be a piece of paper to not be spotted by the camera. There is even duplex audio, which lets you speak and listen to any visitors.

Lastly, the device features weather-resistance, so it will work in a variety of weather conditions.

The Remo+ DoorCam currently sells for $149.99, a 25-percent discount from its normal price tag. You can grab it at the link below.

Next up is the Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat, a well-known smart thermostat that lets you control the temperature from the Ecobee mobile app. The Ecobee4 promises to save up to 23 percent each year on heating or cooling costs. It also includes a room sensor that automatically detects how many people are in a room and adjusts the temperature for the room accordingly.

You can pay extra to have someone install the Ecobee4 for you, but the thermostat comes with easy-to-read instructions. If you install the device on your own, it should take roughly 30 minutes. There is even an included Power Extender Kit if you live in a home with no common wire (C-wire).

Finally, the Ecobee4 features support for Amazon’s Alexa. You can control the thermostat, ask for the weather, set a timer, listen to the news, and much more with your voice.

You can pick up the Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat for $199.99, 20 percent off the device’s usual price.

Lastly, we have the iRobot Roomba 980 robot vacuum. You may have seen a commercial or two on it, but the Roomba 980 uses iRobot’s iAdapt 2.0 navigation with Visual Localization to clean an entire level of your home on its own. It also uses the technology to clean continuously for 120 minutes, recharge, and continue cleaning until the floor is spotless.

Of course, you can schedule and customize cleaning preferences from the iRobot Home app to make things easier on yourself. The Roomba 980 also includes an extra virtual wall barrier that tells the robot vacuum where not to go with an invisible barrier.

The iRobot Roomba 980 currently sells for $459.99, a substantial 49 percent discount from its normal price.
