The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active arrives on Sprint and T-Mobile today

Those of you who have been looking for a super-rugged device that is from a company that you trues, the wait is over. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is now available from Sprint and T-Mobile after being only available via AT&T for a limited time.

When it comes to specs, the Galaxy S8 Active features a rugged design with its MIL-STD 810G rating, meaning that it features a shatter-resistant display, along with a rugged frame and body. As for the specs, the Galaxy S8 Active comes equipped with a 5.8-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, while being powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 5GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and the same 12MP rear camera found on the standard Galaxy S8.

The real story of the S8 Active doesn’t come regarding its design, instead, the main selling point is the battery. While the Galaxy S8 includes a 3,000mAh battery, the S8 Active features a 4,000mAh battery. That combined with a traditional flat display and not a curved display, the S8 Active really could do gang-busters once it becomes available for more people.

Pricing for the Galaxy S8 Active does vary a bit, with Sprint offering the device for just $17.71 per month through a two-year Sprint Flex plan. This is to celebrate Black Friday, and the price will likely jump to around $34 per month after the promotion is over. If you want to buy the phone outright, you’ll have to pay around $850.

As for T-Mobile, the carrier is offering the S8 Active online for either $30 per month for 24 months after $100 down payment or outright for $820. We aren’t exactly sure why Sprint isn’t offering the ability to purchase this device outright, but at least it’s now available from more than just one carrier.

The Galaxy S8 Active lands on Sprint this Friday for 50% off

Just a couple of weeks ago, Samsung confirmed the speculation that the Galaxy S8 Active would no longer be an AT&T-exclusive, and would be made available from the likes of T-Mobile and Sprint. While T-Mobile has already shared pricing and availability information, we were still waiting to hear from Sprint to see what the deal was.

Starting on November 17th, the Galaxy S8 Active will be available in Sprint brick-and-mortar locations, as well as Sprint’s online storefront. However, for a limited time, you can get the device for 50% off when signing up for Sprint Flex, which works out to just $17.71 per month. Plus, The S8 Active falls under Sprint’s Galaxy Forever plan, which allows you to upgrade to the latest Samsung Galaxy device at any time after you have made 12 lease payments.

As a refresher, the Galaxy S8 Active features a rugged design with its MIL-STD 810G rating, meaning that it features a shatter-resistant display, along with a rugged frame and body.

If you’re excited to pick up the Galaxy S8 Active for yourself, be sure to keep an eye on Sprint’s website starting Friday, when the device will be going on sale.

Samsung to Bring the Galaxy S8 Active to Sprint and T-Mobile Later This Month

The Active variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S series has historically been reserved for AT&T’s network. Granted, the Galaxy S5 Active was rebranded to something else for Sprint back in 2014, but for the most part, these Active devices have been exclusive to AT&T’s network. Exclusivity is hardly ever good for the consumer, so it’s great to hear that Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S8 Active is coming to both Sprint and T-Mobile later this month.

Samsung’s two main flagships are both released in two different halves of the year, but the Active variant of the Galaxy S series typically gets a quiet release during that third or fourth quarter as well. We heard a number of rumors about the Galaxy S8 Active leading up to its release but it was actually AT&T’s website that gave us our first official confirmation that it would be coming. This was obviously something that was published too soon because it wasn’t a week later that Samsung and AT&T publicly announced pre-orders for the device.

A month and a half later, we started seeing our first rumors about the Galaxy S8 Active being released on a network that wasn’t AT&T. It was VentureBeat who first reported that the device would be launched on T-Mobile’s network sometime in the future. They were unable to give exact details about its launch but merely had sources who shared that information with them. Today, we not only have confirmation that it will be available for T-Mobile customers, but that it will also be available on the Sprint network as well.

If you are a Sprint or T-Mobile customer and are interested to get your hands on the Galaxy S8 Active, then you only need to wait for a few more days. Both T-Mobile and Sprint will begin selling the Galaxy S8 Active to customers from November 17th. Sprint has yet to reveal pricing details but T-Mobile says they will be selling the device for $820, or $100 down and $30 per month for 24 months.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is officially coming to T-Mobile and Sprint

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active launched as an AT&T exclusive back in August, but there were rumors and speculation that Samsung’s Active lineup would finally be making its way to more carriers. Today, Samsung confirmed these rumors by announcing that the device would be coming to T-Mobile and Sprint later this month.

The device features a rugged design with its MIL-STD-810G rating, meaning that it features a shatter-resistant display, along with a rugged frame and body.

That combined with a traditional flat display and not a curved display, the S8 Active really could do gang-busters once it becomes available for more people.

Sprint has yet to share pricing for the S8 Active, but T-Mobile has announced that the device will go on sale on November 17th for either $820 or $30 per month for 24 months with $100 down payment. Will you be looking to pick up the Galaxy S8 Active? Let us know in the comments below.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active heading to Sprint and T-Mobile

Back in August, Samsung made the rugged variant of its flagship Galaxy S8 officially official for AT&T. The Active line has been an AT&T exclusive for years, but in September a rumor suggested that could change this year. Now we know that is indeed the case.

Samsung announced today that the Galaxy S8 Active will launch on both Sprint and T-Mobile at some point in the future. Unfortunately the announcement is missing key parts, like how much either device will cost on each network, or when they will become available.

Thankfully, T-Mobile has announced that the Galaxy S8 Active will launch on its online store on November 17, and that it will land in retail stores on November 21. It will cost $100 down and $30 per month on T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan over 24 months, or $100 down and $29 per month on a JUMP! On Demand 18-month lease. It’s priced at $820 full retail.

Still waiting on Sprint to make its own announcements.

Samsung had said in the past that the Galaxy S8 Active would basically be a timed exclusive for AT&T, so this announcement isn’t too surprising. Still, the Active lineup has been a way for Galaxy S flagship fans to get a rugged version of the device without having to pick up a case, so it will be interesting to see if the Galaxy S8 Active picks up any traction on two new carriers.

The Galaxy S8 Active has a 4000mAh battery, too, larger than what’s in the standard Galaxy S8. But it doesn’t boast Samsung’s Infinity Display, rather opting for a flat 5.8-inch quad HD Super AMOLED screen to accommodate the rugged design.

If you’re on Sprint or T-Mobile, will you consider picking up the Galaxy S8 Active?
