Battlefield 1 Turning Tides Release Date Tips & Tricks

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides Release Date Tips & Tricks is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The Battlefield 1 Turning Tides DLC release date is still several weeks away, but there are some things you can do, right now, to prepare for its arrival.

DICE recently confirmed a flurry of Turning Tides details including the DLC’s new faction, ranks, weapons, maps, and release date.

Battlefield 1’s third DLC expansion is set to arrive in December though some of its content, two maps and the British Royal Marines faction, will land sometime in January.

We’ve still got a few weeks, and at least one major Battlefield 1 patch, to go before DICE trots out Turning Tides and its long list of changes. That said, there are a few things Premium Pass holders, and prospective Turning Tides buyers, can do before the expansion arrives.

Our list of Turning Tides tips will help get you, and your console, ready for the DLC’s highly anticipated release date. They could also save you some money.

Turning Tides Release Date & Time

If you own the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass or Battlefield 1 Revolution (the base game bundle + Premium Pass), you’ll get access to Turning Tides’ first batch of content in December. Premium Pass holders will get access to Turning Tides two weeks before everyone else.

We don’t expect EA or its retail partners to offer Turning Tides pre-orders ahead of its release date so if you want to play the DLC ASAP, you need to buy the Premium Pass or Battlefield 1 Revolution if you don’t already own the base game.

Turning Tides will almost certainly be included in a base game update. They Shall Not Pass and In the Name of the Tsar were both included inside a mandatory patch for all Battlefield 1 owners, not just those who own the Premium Pass.

We know a lot of you are interested in the Turning Tides release date, but we won’t get one for a few more weeks at least.

Battlefield 1 veterans known when to expect the Turning Tides release, but if you recently bought the game or the Premium Pass, here’s a reminder.

If you want to play Turning Tides ASAP, you’ll need to endure through some server downtime. DICE will take its multiplayer servers offline in order to deploy the update and the DLC’s content.

Unless it does something completely different this time around, you can expect Turning Tides’ release time to look a little something like this for Premium Pass holders:

  • PC: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 08.00 UTC / 12.00 AM PT.
  • PS4: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 10.00 UTC / 2.00 AM PT.
  • Xbox One: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 12.00 UTC / 4.00 AM PT.

If you decide to buy Turning Tides as a standalone piece of content, the DLC will just unlock two weeks after it arrives for Premium Pass holders with no additional download needed.

Test Turning Tides

It’s nowhere close to being ready, but you can test Turning Tides in the Battlefield 1 Community Test Environment (CTE) provided you own the Premium Pass and you’re accepted into the program.

DICE is testing Turning Tides on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC and we expect public testing to continue over the next few weeks as the developer looks to polish the maps, balance the weapons, and squash bugs.

If you have access to the Battlefield 1 CTE, you’ll want to give Turning Tides a try when it appears in testing. DICE will post its updates on the Battlefield 1 CTE Reddit so that’s a great site to bookmark if you’re interested.

If you haven’t signed up for the Battlefield 1 CTE yet you might try before Turning Tides is released. The CTE is open to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 users who own the Premium Pass though space is limited.

If you don’t own the Premium Pass or you’re simply unable to secure a spot in the CTE, find a friend who does have access and give the maps and the DLC’s other content a whirl.

Getting hands-on with Turning Tides’ content before the release date will give you an advantage over those who didn’t get to try the maps, weapons, and vehicles ahead of time.

Trying the DLC in the CTE could also help you make a decision between buying the Premium Pass and buying Turning Tides a la carte.

Get Familiar with the Maps

If you simply can’t gain access to Turning Tides in the Battlefield 1 CTE, you can get familiar with the game’s various maps, weapons and other features without picking up a controller.

As we push toward the game’s release date we’ve started to see Turning Tides content trickle out. If you’re unable to play the DLC, these videos are the next best thing.

Cape Helles

Achi Baba

DICE will probably hold one map back from the CTE, but we’ve already seen Cape Helles and Achi Baba appear in the CTE. The other maps are Heligoland Bight and Zeebrugge.

Premium Pass vs. Standalone DLC

If you want to play Turning Tides content right when it comes out, you need to own the Premium Pass.

EA’s Battlefield 1 Premium Pass is a $50 (or less) season pass that nets you two weeks early access to DLC maps, priority in queues, and some additional content including unique dogtags and 14 superior battlepacks.

DICE will also release Turning Tides as a standalone expansion which will let you buy it separate from the rest of the Battlefield 1 DLC. We expect Turning Tides to command a $15 price point.

If you’re interested in Turning Tides, start thinking about how you want to approach it. To help you pick the best route, we’ve put together a guide to the Premium Pass.

Look for Premium Pass Deals

If you want the Premium Pass, but don’t want to pay full price, keep your eyes open for deals.

We’ve seen a bunch of Premium Pass deals emerge recently and you’ll want to be on the lookout for price cuts on the road to Turning Tides’ release date.

We don’t expect retailers to offer any deals on the standalone version of Turning Tides, at least not right away.

Use Premium Trials

If you can’t make a decision about Turning Tides, you should wait until December.

EA DICE is planing a Premium Trials event in December. This event will give non-Premium owners a chance to play the Turning Tides DLC for free.

It’s not clear when the Premium Trial will start or how long it will last, but you can expect it to stretch for a couple of days at least.

DICE also has another program called Premium Friends. When Premium Friends is active you can play DLC content if you’re in a party with a friend who owns the Premium Pass.

If you’re interested in trying the final version of Turning Tides for free, you’ll need to keep an eye on the Battlefield 1 calendar.

Clean Up Your Hard Drive

We expect the Turning Tides DLC, and its mandatory update, to be massive.

They Shall Not Pass and In the Name of the Tsar were huge downloads. To give you an idea, In the Name of the Tsar and its update require 10GB of free space on the Xbox One and PS4 and 8.5GB on the Windows PC.

You don’t need to go crazy right now, but it might be a good idea to look into your games and other files.

If you’re nearing your hard drive’s threshold, you might need free up some space in order to install the DLC. If you find yourself struggling with a decision over what to delete, it might be time to invest in an external hard drive.

There are a ton of options out there, but this 2TB portable external hard drive from Seagate is one of our favorites.

Be Ready for Problems

DICE will do its best to squash Turning Tides problems, but issues will make it into the final release so you’ll want to be prepared.

Some of these issues will be small annoying bugs. Others could prevent you from enjoying the game and its new content.

To help you get ready, we’ve put together a list of fixes for common Battlefield 1 problems. It’s a good resource to bookmark and it could come in handy on release day and beyond.

If you do run into a problem with Turning Tides, be sure to report the issue(s) to DICE. This way, its engineers can include a patch in a future update.

Turning Tides Release Date

DICE hasn't confirmed a specific Turning Tides release date, but we do have a release window to look forward to.

The developer is still committed to a December launch date for Turning Tides. The company's started mentioning the DLC in promotional materials and eagle-eyed gamers have also spotted the Turning Tides cover art lurking on EA Origin.

It looks like some Battlefield 1 content will emerge in December with additional content planned for January, 2018.

DICE says "Battlefield 1 Turning Tides will be released in separate waves in December 2017 and January 2018, ensuring a steady stream of new maps and other content during the upcoming months." The company's outlined its plans in the roadmap, seen here.

How to Add Your Xbox One Pins Back to Home

How to Add Your Xbox One Pins Back to Home is a post by Travis Pope from Gotta Be Mobile.

You need to know how to add your Xbox One pins back to your console’s home screen. Without them, accessing your favorite games and apps on Microsoft’s Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X can get confusing. Use this tutorial to learn how.

Accessing your favorite games can get confusing because Microsoft’s Fall 2017 Xbox One Update focuses on customization instead of Xbox One Pins. You add small hubs for each of your favorite games to it, then scroll down to see the latest video clips, news and who is playing at that moment. If the game or app you want to open isn’t in one of the hubs you’ve added to Home, you need to dive into the My Games & Apps area to find it. That’s very inconvenient.

Here’s how to add Xbox One Pins back to your console’s home screen.

Read: 12 Xbox One Problems & Fixes

Here’s how to add your Xbox One Pins back to your console and easily access your favorite stuff.

First, turn on your Xbox One. Because Xbox One Pins are tied to your account, you must log into your account to add them back. Every gamer who has an account on your Xbox One needs to do this because it’s not a universal setting, like turning on the Xbox One’s Light Theme.

Press the glowing Xbox logo on your Xbox One Controller to open the Xbox Guide. This Guide will slide out from the left edge of your display.

Once the Guide is visible, use the left joystick on your controller to select the Pin icon at the top of the Guide. It’s just below Home and to the right of the shopping bag icon for the Windows Store. Press A on your controller once you’ve highlighted the Pin button.

This is the Guide’s Pin area. If you don’t want to add Xbox One Pins back to your console’s home area, you can always come here to access the apps and games that you often open. At the bottom of your list of pins is Add Pins to Home. Use the left joystick on your Xbox controller to highlight this text, then press the A button.

Press the Xbox button on your controller again to close the Xbox Guide. Your Xbox One Pins are the first section you come to once you move the joystick down on your controller once. Press Y for editing options.

From this screen, you can move the entire Xbox One Pins section around. For convenience, it’s a good idea to leave it above any other hubs that you’ve added to Home. This way, you can start your console and almost immediately access them. However, moving it past the rest of your hubs to make sure you see what’s in them is also a good idea. Choose whichever position works best for you. If you press Y, you can remove all your hubs and only have your Xbox One Pins surface on Home.

To customize what apps are pinned, press the Menu button down on your controller for more options. You can Unpin any app or game that you want and move a Pin so that it’s higher or lower on your list of apps, depending on how often you use it. Unfortunately, you can’t pin settings from the Settings app as you can with Windows 10. Microsoft adds all the settings it thinks you will use often to the Xbox Guide.

Here’s a Can’t Miss Fallout 4 Deal

Here’s a Can’t Miss Fallout 4 Deal is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

You don’t have to wait until Black Friday to save money on Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition because an awesome deal has emerged over at Amazon.

Bethesda’s Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition is only a few weeks old, but it’s already received a significant price cut. The bundle, which includes the base game and all six DLC expansions, is typically priced at $60, but Amazon’s taking 33% off the standard retail price.

The retailer’s Fallout 4 deal drops the GOTY edition down to just $39.99 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Those who have a Prime membership will get free two-day shipping. The game is also available for same-day delivery.

Note, this deal only applies to the regular version. Amazon isn’t offering the same discount on the Fallout 4 Game of the Year Pip-Boy Edition. The Pip-Boy Edition is still in stock (for the Xbox One, the PS4 and PC versions are only available via third-party resellers) and commands $99.

This is one of the best Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition deals we’ve come across and it’s a great way to jump into the Commonwealth for the first time.

The Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition features hundreds and hundreds of hours of gameplay thanks to the base game and the DLC expansions Bethesda released over the course of 2016. These include:

$39.99 for the Game of the Year Edition is an excellent deal. While the price of the base game has dropped significantly since its launch in 2015, the Fallout 4 Season Pass is still $50 at retailers like Amazon.

Retailers continue to sell the Fallout 4 DLC packs individually, but we haven’t seen prices budge. The two biggest Fallout 4 DLCs, Far Harbor and Nuka World, are still $25 and $20 most places.

In addition to the base game and the six expansions, you’ll gain access to an extensive catalog of free Fallout 4 mods. There are  more than 10,000 mods available on Bethesda’s marketplace and we’ve listed nearly 200 of our favorites to help narrow the list for beginners. (You can find our list below.)

The unofficial NexusMods also features an extensive library of Fallout 4 mods for PC.

Bethesda’s new Fallout 4 1.10.26 update delivers new content.

Bethesda’s also launched a controversial Fallout 4 Creation Club program. Creation Club delivers new downloadable content from Bethesda and top content creators. Unlike mods, Creation Club content isn’t free.

Creation Club credits are purchased on the game store. In the United States, 750 credits costs $8.00, 1500 credits costs $15, 3000 credits costs $25, and 5,500 costs $40.

The developer will continue to keep the game fresh with new content and the game’s most recent update delivered a Doom Classic Marine Armor  for 400 Credits and the Doom BFG for 400 Credits.

189 PS4 & Xbox One Fallout 4 Mods You Should Try Right Now

Let's start with one of our favorite PC Fallout 4 mods that quickly made it over to the long list of Fallout 4 mods for console.

keyNuker creates a key ring in your inventory that hides keys and passwords. With it installed, your MISC tab in on your Pip-Boy is going to be a lot more manageable, particularly if you're deep into the game with tons and tons of items listed.

The screenshot here shows you what the vanilla MISC tab looks like compared to the MISC tab with keyNuker installed. It's night and day.

This is one of our favorite Fallout 4 mods and one that should consider if you're tired of wasting time scrolling through hundreds (many of them worthless) of items.

6 Minecraft Problems with Better Together Update & How to Fix Them

6 Minecraft Problems with Better Together Update & How to Fix Them is a post by Travis Pope from Gotta Be Mobile.

Since launch, Minecraft problems have wrecked the new Better Together update. Here’s how to fix those problems and how you can finally get Minecraft Better Together on your iPhone or video game console.

Announced over the summer, the Better Together update unites Minecraft players on video game consoles, smartphones and tablets. Anyone playing the game on one device can send an invite for their world to a friend or family member on another device. The update also links skins to your Microsoft Account and Xbox Live Gamertag, letting you buy one skin on your iPhone and reuse it on your Xbox One.

Unfortunately, Minecraft problems have ruined the Better Together update for many. Some gamers can’t stay connected to multiplayer for long before the game disconnects them. Others are having trouble moving their game worlds. Minecraft Better Together is an entirely new game download on consoles, confusing many gamers.

Read: Minecraft Better Together Release Date & Details

Here’s how to fix those Minecraft problems now, along with workarounds for the issues that there aren’t easy fixes for yet.

How to Fix Disconnection Minecraft Problems

After the Better Together update, some gamers on iPhone, Android and Xbox One have had trouble playing with each other for long periods of time. At first, all seems well, but someone is dropped from the game and everyone loses progress on their world within minutes.

To confirm that this is a problem with Microsoft’s servers and not your internet connection, restart your device. Also, switch internet connections if you can. If the problem is still happening, it’s with Xbox Live and not your device.

Playing over your phone or tablet’s mobile data connection away from a Wi-Fi network can also create Minecraft problems that look like connectivity issues. Play over Wi-Fi if multiplayer using LTE on your phone seems sluggish.

How to Fix World Transfer Minecraft Problems on Xbox One

On iPhone, Android and Windows, Minecraft Better Together is an update. Your phone, tablet or PC automatically downloads it and you don’t need to do anything more. Things are more complicated on Xbox One and that’s leading to world transfer problems.

Better Together is a completely new game on Xbox One. If you own, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, you get this new version of the game for free, but you have to transfer your worlds to it before you can continue where you left off.

Once the new Minecraft is available to you, download it from the Xbox Store and open it. Since Xbox One saves your games in the cloud and on the console, the transfer should happen automatically. If it doesn’t, press the Menu button on your controller and Quit or Close the game. Try loading the new version of Minecraft that you got from Microsoft repeatedly until the transfer goes through. Worlds you’ve already created in Minecraft: Xbox One Edition can take around 15 minutes to finally transfer.

How to Fix Redstone Minecraft Problems

When you move over a world to the new Minecraft, expect problems with how your Redstone objects are configured. That’s because Minecraft: Xbox One Edition uses a different setup for Redstone than the Pocket Edition did. This new version of Minecraft is based on Pocket Edition.

How to Fix Minecraft Coordinate Problems on Consoles

If you’re missing the coordinates feature, you’re probably on an Xbox One. Console Editions have Coordinates on their map. These aren’t in the new Minecraft because they were never available on mobile devices. Microsoft may fix this at some point, but it hasn’t done so yet.

Minecraft DLC Problems

A small amount of content doesn’t transfer between some versions of Minecraft. According to Microsoft, this is because there are issues with their licenses.

If you have Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, your Minecon 2015 Skin Pack will carry over to the new version of the game and you can use it in multiplayer. It’s not available for purchase.

You can’t use the Simpsons Skin Pack, Marvel Avengers Skin Pack, Marvel Spider-Man Skin Pack and the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Skin Pack anywhere but on Xbox. What’s more, you can’t use them in any multiplayer world.

The Mass Effect Mash-Up Pack, Doctor Who Skins Volume 1, Doctor Who Skins Volume 2, First Birthday Skin Pack, Second Birthday Skin Pack, Third Birthday Skin Pack, Fourth Birthday Skin Pack and Fifth Birthday Skin Pack don’t transfer from Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.

How to Fix Problems Downloading Minecraft Better Together

If you’re having problems downloading Minecraft Better Together, look to your device’s app store.

Again, iOS and Android users get the Better Together update for free. Connect to your device’s app store and download the latest update.

If this hasn’t happened for you already, it is because your device doesn’t meet the game’s requirements. iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users need iOS 8.0 installed on their device to get the latest version of the game, according to the iTunes Store. The requirements aren’t clear on Android, which is why you should check the Google Play Store on your phone or tablet to make sure it still meets the game’s requirements.

If you have a digital copy of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, you can download the new Minecraft directly from the Windows Store on your console. You must play a disc copy of the game for 5 hours or buy DLC to get a free game unlock before January 30th, 2018.

The new Minecraft is coming to Nintendo Switch, but it’s still delayed. Microsoft says it will have more to share about the game soon, but it hasn’t said when it will launch.

Finally, PS4 owners don’t get the Minecraft Better Together update at all.

Gotta Be Mobile will continue to update this breakdown of Minecraft problems and fixes with new remedies for the problems gamers are encountering regularly.

How to Turn On Light Theme on the Xbox One

How to Turn On Light Theme on the Xbox One is a post by Travis Pope from Gotta Be Mobile.

Anyone can turn on the Light Theme on the Xbox One and brighten up their Xbox One, Xbox One S and  Xbox One X experience. Here’s how to do that.

Like on your smartphone, your Xbox One’s theme color dictates how your favorite areas on the console look. With the Light Theme on Xbox One enabled, every part of the Xbox One experience switches to white or light gray instead of the dark gray and black that Microsoft turns on at the factory. This feature isn’t the Xbox One Fall Update’s best feature, but it is one of the most impactful. The Light Theme helps the Xbox One’s software feel more modern and less claustrophobic than in the past.

Before you can use the Light Theme on Xbox One you need the latest software update. If your console is already connected to the internet and Xbox Live, you already have it. This update launched in mid-October and it is required to connect to the online gaming service. If you haven’t connected your console to Xbox Live since mid-October 2017, you need do that now. This update also adds a new Home area design and makes it possible for you to transfer your game files from your old Xbox One to a new Xbox One without downloading them again.

Read: How to Update the Xbox One

Power on your Xbox One, and sign in to your Microsoft Account. Your Microsoft Account needs to have adult access to make any major changes, including turning on the Light Theme.

Once you’re signed in, press the Xbox logo on your controller to open the Guide.

Use your Xbox Controller’s left joystick to highlight the Settings window inside the Xbox Guide. It’s the option on the far right with the cog.

Select Settings. It’s the second option from the top of the menu.

Inside the Settings app is every option your Xbox One has. Use the left joystick on your controller to highlight Personalization in the menu on the left edge of your screen.

Your first instinct is to select My Color & Background. Don’t do that. Those options are for switching the highlight color of your profile and the background of your home page. Instead, select Theme and Motion.

Use the A button on your Xbox One Controller to select System Theme.

By default, your console uses the Dark Theme. Move the joystick down and select Light.

Now go back to the Home screen by pressing the Xbox button on your controller. The bottom of the home screen is white if you successfully switched to the Light Theme on your console. Remember, because themes are a system setting, everyone else will have the Light Theme when they log in to play games too.

Try the Light Theme on your Xbox One for a few days to see how you like it. During the day it, it shouldn’t change your television’s brightness that much. Expect to adjust your television’s brightness at night because of the change though. Unfortunately, there’s no way for you to switch the theme on and off depending on what time of day it is. You can return to the Settings app and switch between Light Theme and Dark Theme whenever you want though.
